The old mechanic shop
After a couple of years scouring the neighbourhood of Addington for a suitable cafe venue, we finally scored the old mechanics workshop at 297 Lincoln Rd.

We spent between January and Oct 2008 grinding, earthquake proofing, scarping, paint stripping, tiling, painting and landscaping to turn the place into the character building from which we now operate.

In one corner of the cafe, our beloved Probat coffee roaster emanates the sweet aroma of roasting coffee on a daily basis. Beans can be purchased in-store or from our online store on this site.

We've installed what we reckon are the tallest bi-fold doors in Canterbury, so the sun really has no choice but to stream into the seating area. Be it a Nor-West or Easterly biting at your heels, there's always a sheltered wall to open up.

We have free wireless Internet so you can come and do some work while hanging at the cafe. A private meeting room is available to use - no charge but bookings advised. This seats around 10 people.

Fair Trade
A major point of difference about our cafe is that over and above our commitment to using Fair Trade products where available, we've committed to sending all our profits (that's like after paying all our bills and wages) to the communities who supply our products in the first place.

An example of this is Freeset community in Kolkata and to the coffee growing communities we purchase our green beans from.

We believe a business should benefit all the people involved in it – not just the shareholders. All our staff contribute their thoughts on where the money is sent.

So with every cup of coffee, every chai-skinny-decaf-hi-calci-half-mocha-latte, every plate of hotcakes, with every bag of beans - you know you're actually putting something good back into this world.
